2205 duplex stainless steel, designated as UNS S31803 / S32205 and W.Nr. 1.4462, is a nitrogen-enhanced duplex alloy combining high strength with excellent corrosion resistance. It provides superior resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking, especially in chloride-containing environments.
2205 is widely used in pressure vessels, heat exchangers, marine components, and chemical processing equipment. Its balanced microstructure of austenite and ferrite offers high mechanical strength and good weldability, making it an ideal choice for demanding industrial applications.
