Inconel 686, also known as Alloy 686, UNS N06686, and W.Nr. 2.4606, is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy with exceptional resistance to a wide range of severe corrosive environments. Its high molybdenum content provides outstanding resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress-corrosion cracking, while the addition of chromium and nickel ensures excellent stability in oxidizing and reducing conditions. This alloy is often selected where maximum corrosion resistance is required.
Inconel 686 is widely used in chemical processing, marine engineering, pollution control systems, pulp and paper production, and pharmaceutical industries. It is especially suitable for components exposed to aggressive acids such as hydrochloric, sulfuric, nitric, and phosphoric acids, as well as seawater and brine environments. Available forms include Inconel 686 plates, pipes, tubes, bars, and fittings, making it a versatile solution for demanding industrial applications.
